Representations and Symbology of the Prison-Wall

Invisible as a totality, the built structure maintains a kinship to its two-dimensional representations as fragments of form. It is primarily through such schematic representations that the prison-wall will speak, circulating images of state sovereignty in the public imaginary. The images themselves thus represent an array of symbols of the “independence” of the United States – its self-origin, autonomy, and freedom from history.
